At Vail Resorts, Chief Marketing Officer Kirsten Lynch engages customers by letting them engage with each other. Social media is an ever-growing part of the company’s marketing strategy. In 2010, Vail Resorts launched Epic Mix, a mobile app that allows guests at any of the company’s resorts to share photos, statistics, and messages while true “shred heads” enhance their Vail Resorts experience by participating in the “Epic Race,” which allows guests to “race” against other guests or even Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn via the company’s snow.com website. “Skiing is all about coming down to the lodge and trading stories,” explains Lynch. “We are bringing that heritage into the 21st Century.”

Before joining Vail Resorts in 2011, Lynch oversaw brand marketing, consumer insights and shopper marketing organization for PepsiCo’s Quaker Foods Division and held several marketing positions at Kraft. In 2005, Crain’s Chicago Business hailed Lynch as one of their “40 Under 40.”
