As Director-General of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Helal Saeed Almarri plans to turn the city’s “Tourism Vision for 2020” into reality, a vision that became clearer when the Bureau International des Exhibitions voted to host its “Expo 2020” in the UAE city. Over 25 million visitors will attend the Expo, which Bank of America/Merrill Lynch expects to boost Dubai’s economy by $23 billion(US) between 2015 and 2020. Almarri states, “A wide range of sectors will benefit, including construction, engineering and transportation, and of course hospitality. Retail and aviation sectors will experience a significant positive impact.”

At DTCM, Almarri is responsible for both marketing Dubai as a world class tourist destination, geared toward families and other travelers; and for positioning Dubai as a business hub for the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Previously a financial consultant, Almarri serves on the board of numerous government and UAE-based private sector entities.
